From the emergency department to the clinic
I spent years in emergency medicine. It taught me to tell what is dangerous from what is not. It also showed me how many people arrive not too late, but after starting too late: blood sugar high for a decade with no one managing it, weight creeping up year after year, more and more pills. None of that can be fixed in the emergency department. It has to be explained, slowly, in a clinic.
So I moved to community practice in Taoyuan, Taiwan. I see what a community doctor sees: colds, hypertension, diabetes and long-term prescriptions, with a particular focus on weight management and metabolic health.
Chronic wear and tear
Much of the fatigue, weight gain and abnormal check-up results in middle age is not caused by a single disease. It is the body being worn down, little by little, by daily life: short sleep, irregular meals, inactivity. I call this chronic wear and tear. My job in clinic is to find its sources and deal with them one at a time.
About this website
The articles are written in Traditional Chinese for patients in Taiwan. Each one is written and reviewed by me, cites the clinical guidelines and studies it relies on, and shows when it was last reviewed. They are health education, not a substitute for seeing a doctor.

What I see
Colds and stomach flu
Upper respiratory symptoms and gastroenteritis: when rest is enough and when medicine helps.
Chronic disease
Hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and long-term prescriptions, managed together so the medication list stops growing for no reason.
Is it an emergency?
Chest pain, headache, abdominal pain. Years in the emergency department taught me what to worry about and what not to.
Weight management
Eating little but not losing weight, plateaus, whether medication can help. I start from body composition and blood tests.
